Clinical Hours completed this week: 20 hours
Patient Encounters completed this week: 12

Clinical Highlights
This week, I encountered a challenging patient who presented with complex symptoms that didn’t neatly fit into a standard diagnostic framework. The patient had a history of chronic pain with recent exacerbation, which was further complicated by comorbidities. This encounter required me to delve deeper into the patient’s medical history, collaborate closely with my preceptor, and conduct additional research to propose a comprehensive management plan. I learned the importance of flexibility in clinical reasoning and the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in managing complex cases.
Looking Ahead
Next week, I aim to enhance my skills in patient education and counseling regarding chronic pain management strategies. My proposed clinical schedule is Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, totaling 12 hours.
Discussion
Reflecting on this week’s challenges with managing complex cases, I realize the need to further develop my skills in differential diagnosis and evidence-based management. I plan to review relevant clinical guidelines and seek feedback from my preceptor to improve my approach to similar cases in the future.
I am going to email/message you to further discuss challenges with gaining access to a wide variety of diagnoses for the course population.
Topic to Discuss
This week, I would like to discuss strategies for identifying and managing patients with rare or atypical presentations to broaden my clinical exposure.
