SYD 3800 FSU Discussing the Effects of Social Class Essay

SYD 3800 FSU Discussing the Effects of Social Class Essay

ANSWER

1. Introduction:

  • Begin with a clear and engaging introduction that provides an overview of your research topic and its significance.
  • Briefly discuss your major findings or interesting issues about family that emerged from your interviews.
  • Introduce the key informants, providing some context about who they are and why their experiences are relevant to your study.

2. Results:

  • This section should form the bulk of your paper. Organize it in a clear and logical manner.
  • Start by presenting the major themes or patterns that emerged from your interviews. These could be related to gender experiences in various aspects of life, such as paid work and intimate relationships.
  • For each theme or pattern, use direct quotes from your interviewees to illustrate the discussion. Make sure to attribute these quotes to the relevant informants.
  • Link your findings to concepts, theories, and issues discussed in your course. Use bold font the first time you introduce a concept or theory, and then use normal font for subsequent mentions.
  • Be selective about the issues you discuss and focus on those most closely related to your interview data. Avoid summarizing the interviews chronologically; instead, analyze and synthesize the data to draw meaningful insights.
  • Analyze any similarities and differences in the experiences of your informants and provide explanations or interpretations where necessary.

3. Conclusion:

  • In the conclusion, briefly summarize your interview experiences and the major findings of your study.
  • Reflect on the interview process itself. What was the experience like for you as a researcher? Did conducting these interviews provide you with new insights or perspectives on the issues you’ve learned about during the semester?
  • Offer some final thoughts on the broader implications of your findings for our understanding of gender and related sociological concepts.

4. References:

  • Follow the American Sociological Association (ASA) formatting style for your references. Ensure that you cite any works, including the textbook and supplemental materials, that you used in your paper.
  • List your references in alphabetical order and follow the ASA guidelines for formatting citations.

Remember to maintain a clear and coherent narrative throughout your paper, and use headings and subheadings to help readers navigate through your content. Additionally, ensure that your paper is well-organized, free of grammatical errors, and properly formatted according to your institution’s guidelines. Good luck with your paper!

QUESTION

Description

As you begin to think about organizing your collected data and writing your paper, you will need to pull

out themes running through the interviews. In particular, think about similarities and differences in your

informants’ experiences of being a woman/man/other gender. For instance, perhaps you find that their

experiences in paid work are vastly different, but their experiences in intimate relationships have some

similarities. If so, you can use direct quotes from the interviewees to illustrate the discussion of these

themes. The organization of your paper will be very important to your overall grade on this assignment;

the paper should include the following sections (clearly labeled):

1.An Introduction to the paper in which you briefly discuss what you see as your major findings (i.e.,

what interesting issues about family emerged from your interviews). The introduction should include a

brief description of the key informants.

2.Results of the data will form the bulk of the paper. It is critical that you link your data to concepts,

theories, and issues that we’ve been discussing and reading about in class. *Put each concept or theory

you use in your paper in bold font the first time you use it (and normal font subsequent times). You

can’t discuss all issues; you’ll need to select the ones that are most clearly related to your interviewees

and your data. Do not simply describe the interviews from start to finish, and don’t try to include all the date you collect.

3.The Conclusion should very briefly summarize your interview experiences.

You should address questions like the following: What was the interview experience like? Did it give

you any new insight on issues you learned about this semester?

References: For any works that you need to cite in your paper (for example, the textbook or any

supplemental materials you used in making the points in your paper), please use the American

Sociological Association formatting. If you google “American Sociological Association format,” you’ll

find examples.
