MKT 500 SU Marketing Hypothetical Wedding Planner Company Discussion
ANSWER
Hi Susan,
It’s great to meet you, and I appreciate your introduction! Your hypothetical business, “Just a little help wedding planners,” sounds like a fantastic concept, especially in today’s context where many people are opting for smaller, more intimate weddings. Here’s how you can anticipate applying the Four Ps of Marketing to your business:
- Product: You’ve clearly outlined your service offerings, which range from basic consultation to comprehensive planning and day-of event coordination. Ensure that you have detailed packages and service descriptions to cater to various customer needs. Consider additional services like customizable wedding themes or special COVID-19 safety protocols for at-home weddings.
- Price: Your pricing strategy appears flexible, which is a good approach to accommodate different budgets. Be sure to conduct market research to understand what competitors are charging for similar services. You might also consider offering package deals or discounts for referrals and repeat customers.
- Place: Since you’re targeting Southern New Jersey, focus on building strong local connections. Partner with local vendors, such as florists, caterers, and photographers, and create a network of trusted service providers. Your home office is a cost-effective choice, but also consider virtual consultations to expand your reach beyond your immediate area.
- Promotion: Your promotional plan is solid. Building a professional website and a strong social media presence on Facebook is crucial. Consider also using Instagram and Pinterest, as they are popular platforms for sharing wedding-related content. Attend local wedding expos to showcase your services and make valuable connections. You might also consider running online ads targeting engaged couples in your service area.
Overall, your approach seems well-thought-out, and your dedication to assisting couples with smaller, more intimate weddings is a unique selling point. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance throughout the course. Best of luck with your MBA studies and your “Just a little help wedding planners” business!

Hello everyone!
- My name is Susan and I currently live in Atco New Jersey with my husband. I work for a large payroll company and am taking this course as part of my MBA. I have no marketing experience so this class is a bit intimidating for me.
- My hypothetical business is “Just a little help wedding planners” for those having small at home weddings. Idea came to me as someone who had a small at home wedding during Covid and had a few missteps. Things were forgotten or done at last minute that caused some stress. I think had I been able to find someone to just talk things out with, to make sure all my ducks were in a row, would have made a difference. Basically someone to smack reality into me that if your wedding is at 11am, at 9am you really should not be out buying beverages and ice. Wedding planners/coordinators I found were more interested in the larger grander events than a little 10 person event and were so expensive even to just have a consultation as they charged by the hour with minimum hour requirements.
